Wizards Of Deception

I just watched the documentary by Danny Schechter 'Weapons Of Mass Deception'.
The Wizards of Cause here are Owners Of the Televison Networks who know how much money can be made by selling a War. In his film, Schechter says that the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was not just a way for the Bush administration to advance their agenda, it was a way for TV Networks to make huge profits. I have an 8 minute segment from the film which deals with The Dumbing Down Of News In this clip, Schechter talks about "the News immersion." He says: "their War was for ratings and revenues; Glitzy, fast-paced coverage Militainment." He shows a clip with Pentagon advisor John Renden, who says: "There's a convergence of content. News Information and Entertainment needs to be separated... if the vehicle that delivers this information is all the same, the viewer will have trouble distinguishing between the three. As I watched his film I kept thinking of the CBC radio show: 'O'Reilly On Advertising. Terry O'Reilly talks about this 'branding by Governments' to sell a product; the product being Their Country's political Agenda; As a Tourist Attraction or Olympic Competitor. The people behind this Wizard's curtain are using this same technique to sell War coverage and whatever agenda happens to be the flavor of the month for a Government in Power. So many of us feel duped and manipulated by what we see in the News but this Documentary brings us a highly articulate voice. *Just as an aside, I just wrote a comment in Danny Schechter's Blog to let him know how much I appreciate his film. The comment verification word that came up was the other person who watched the film with me tonight; my Mom; 'Pat'. Just a coincidence? I think not.
